When I think of summer, I think about spending time with family. My husband, Billy, and I enjoy spending time with our parents, children, and grandkids. Our children grew up with this playhouse. It has definitely seen better days, but still has good bones.
We have decided that we need to revamp this playhouse. We are working with a limited budget. I have a passion for anything vintage and repurposing discarded items. We are repurposing things that we have and adding a few new purchases to create a new playhouse for our grandchildren to enjoy.
We decided to begin with the outside décor. I created this wreath from a vintage wooden embroidery hoop. Sunflowers and greenery were added using floral wire to bind them.
This watering can was found on my sister's farm. A good cleaning and an Iron Orchid Designs Wander transfer added charm to what was once discarded.
The girls need seating on their deck. My parents had an old picket planter that they were planning to throw out. We cut the legs down and added three pallet wood planks for the seat. It was then painted with Fusion Mineral Paint in Victorian Lace. I think the girls will enjoy this outdoor seating.
We added a vintage mailbox painted with Debi's Design Diary's DIY Paint in White Swan and distressed. The planter was filled with solar flower lights that we found on Amazon.
There is still more to do. The plan is to paint the exterior and completely redesign the interior. Kitchen, reading and creative areas will be added. This project will take a few weeks to complete, but will be well worth it. I'm excited to see the looks on our granddaughters' faces! Follow along with us on this journey to remodel the playhouse.
